DBT-Informed Recovery Group for Teens
Our DBT-Informed Substance Abuse Recovery Group is designed to support teens who are working to reduce or stop substance use while building lifelong skills for emotional resilience. Grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, this group offers a structured, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for teens to learn healthier ways to cope, connect, and thrive.
Participants will learn evidence-based skills in four key areas:
Mindfulness: staying present, reducing impulsivity, and increasing self-awareness.
Distress Tolerance: managing urges, riding out emotional waves, and developing crisis-survival strategies.
Emotion Regulation: understanding emotions, reducing vulnerability, and creating balance.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: improving communication, setting boundaries, and strengthening relationships.
Each session blends skill-building, discussion, and guided practice to help teens develop healthier coping mechanisms, increase motivation for change, and strengthen their sense of self-efficacy. Teens will be met with empathy, respect, and a trauma-informed approach that honors their lived experiences.
This group is a great fit for teens who want to:
Reduce substance use or maintain early recovery
Build practical tools to manage stress and emotions
Connect with a supportive peer community
Strengthen confidence and personal accountability
No prior DBT experience is required. All identities and backgrounds are welcome.
